as far as I know, my Designjet5500 has a built in RIP. I print straight from photoshop using the windows drivers, the printer has the media selected when I insert the roll.
Is it required for me to use rip software?
so far the problem is when i print up some posters, I lose media between the posters, like 10 ish inches. so I have to print a poster, unload the material, load it in again, then print the next.
are there any RIP's that are available for free? I know some are available as demos, but up to this point the wasteage of material and time is the only thing affecting me.
what else is benificail to buying a rip? just seems rough to spend more on the software then on the ink, printer and media!
