Is anyone running Shiraz signature on Mac?

Been having numerous problems with pc connectivity via the firewire so have decide to buy a usb to parallel cable and connect via that as there appears to be no firewire option for the mac version of shiraz signature.

has anyone managed to set up a mac via a parallel to usb cable before? shiraz says its printing but then i get an io error?

any help would be great we are running mimaki jv3 1300sp
