Is there a way to do this?

I can do some basic stuff in Photoshop, but I'm no guru, so I'm wondering if there's a way (layer?) of creating an old/faded/washed-out look on a font.

There are several grunge/aged/vintage/distressed Photoshop actions out there that will do it for you automatically but it's a pretty easy effect to knock out by hand plus you'll have better control.

You can also use buy a set of photoshop actions called MACHINE WASH FILTERS that will to it.
