ISO Good Sewing Machine for Welding Banners

cb2804

New Member
Looking for a good industrial double needle sewing machine capable of welding banners. Looking at sewing about 1,800 banners a year for a single customer let alone other clients, so it will need to be something that lasts.
I'm a novice so hopefully looking for something user friendly. Open to used or new.

Any ideas? Also tips & tricks welcome!

I think others will tell you to get something better but we got a Sailrite recently and it's been really nice and simple to use. We don't have a permanent home for it so being able to move it around was key. We usually sew pole sleeves though in mainly our 18oz pole banner. We weld everything else.

I just happen to print for Consew. So I asked the guy who's been there forever, Doug Glenn, what would be good. We have a 339RB-4 paired with the 3001 motor, or a P1560 in regular and programmable versions, or a P2339. You can see this on the Consew.com website. He's leaving on a trip next week but you can call him if you want, He can suggest which machine and a dealer near you. Doug 917-816-0204

I looked into Sailrite but their customer service said they don't have any machines that are double-needle capable. Do you just sew with single needle? And it holds up okay?

An actual welder instead of sewing? i cranked tons of banners a day with the miller welder.

I second the welder, we have the Leister Hemtek and it's great. There's a learning curve and we're space challenged which is an issue as we don't have a permanent home for it but it's fast and does a nice job. You can bang out banners super fast if you gang them all up and run them at the same time.

I also use the Consew 339. It's a beast. Mine has a puller. It's nice, but the puller isn't "really" needed for sewing banners.

Never go against the family
Place I retired from had a Mitsubishi LT2-2228 industrial double needle, worked like a charm. Used std bobbins, and the big cones for feed. Besides banners we did a lot of table runners, tension fabrics, and other stuff for trade show displays. The double stitching is strong, and looks good too. Was considering getting one for here, but we just wouldn't use it enough, found quite a few around a grand with the stand.
