JV33-260 (FW 4.4) and MAPS

Hi out there!


Is it possible to activate MAPS (Mimaki Advanced Pass System) on my Mimaki JV33-260 (built in 2009) with Firmware 4.4?

If not, is it possible to upgrade the firmware to a version which provides this?

If its possible to upgrade, are the any disadvantages?

Source: Supplement for the Basic Operation manual (MAPS function)

On the JV33, MAPS is only available from FW 5.60.

The machine can be upgraded, and I don't know of any downside to the upgrade.

one little question to upgrade the firmware:
sometimes I use third-party-printheads - are they allowed in higher fw-versions than 4.4?

No. That is the one downside. Any firmware above 2.2 will not accept third party print heads.

i am using FW 4.4, that means my third-party-printheads are original. my supplier told me that, but i didnt belive him.

now i will upgrade to the latest fw for my machine.

Correct! An original Mimaki OEM head will have a green connector and have IH-47V marked on the top of it. An aftermarket head will have a black connector and is generally marked IF-33V.
