JV400-160LX ink scratching

We have a Mimaki JV400-160LX. (Old machine I know but it's done very little work)
For some time we have been arguing with Mimaki that the ink scratches pretty easily - like with a finger nail.
The say it is performing to spec but I can't believe Mimaki would think this is acceptable.
We have to laminate everything from the machine and I'm loath to sell the product because of durability concerns.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

I'd probably look into aftermarket inks for that machine, as ink has come a long way since that machine was released. Not had much luck with Mimaki's latex inks myself, and don't really see it much in the wild these days.

Thanks for replying.
Not sure where I would source a/m inks - my understanding is that the Mimaki inks cure at a much lower temp than other latex inks but I'm not 100% on that.
