I have the darndest time keeping the tube on the takeup reel for the backer tight. I know you can pull the black cord thing and make it get tight but it is only temporary. It will spill a few times or sometimes many many times but work its way loose. Any solutions for this.

How old is it? Maybe you just need to order new rubber for the spindle. I had the same issue on our old Chinese laminator and could only really fix it by putting on new rubber grippers or whatever they're called.

I usually tighten it by manually jamming the rubber between the core and spindle while spinning it with my hand, once it's jammed it give it a good crank to tighten it. Ours is only about a year old but I haven't had any slippage issues.
