LABELING WINDOW GRAPHIC PRINTS

LABELING WINDOW LETTERING IN OUR SHOP IS LIKE LISTENING TO THE COMACST PHONE TREE FOR AND STRAIGHT. Its frustrating to say the least.

THE BOSS WANTS IT ONE WAY AND EVERYONE WANTS IT THE CORRECT WAY.

CAN YOU TELL ME HOW YOU LABEL YOUR PANELS?

EXAMPLE. WE HAVE A JOB THAT HAS 6 WINDOW BANKS. EACH WINDOW BANK HAS 12 PANELS OF GLASS (3PANELS HIGH, 4 PANELS WIDE.) THE CLIENT ALSO WANTS THE MULLIONS COVERED AS WELL. HOW WOULD YOU LABEL THIS?

Here is what we do. Have the printer print the job name at the bottom that will get trimmed off with however you want to label them for example A1-A12, B1-B12 etc. Then we write that on tape when we trim and after it is rolled up we put the tape holding the roll that way when on site you look at the tape and can put them in order of install. We also have a sheet showing the overall graphic with the windows labeled to make sure

Yep, that's what we do as well. Whether it's window graphics or wall murals or vehicle graphics. As long as the installer has a tile map or mockup labeled as the graphics are it's pretty simple.

Depends on how similiar the graphics look. If it's all trees and you can mistake a panel ... Well label them A1, A2, A3, etc.

If you're doing 4 sets of windows... 3 panels on each window, and the graphics are obvious where they go.... Well roll all 3 graphics up into one roll and just call it window 1.... Do the same with window 2.

We just did 3x 15 ft long x 10 ft long wall murals.... Didn't label any individual panel, they got rolled up in the order they go, and labeled wall 1, wall 2, etc. Would much rather spend 5 mins in the shop rolling them in order than 5 mins per flipping through everything at the customers location.

But if the above doesn't work.... Label it window 1, a b c d, or window 1 top a, top a, too b, bottom a, bottom b, bottom c, etc.

To be honest, it should be whatever way the installer wants it - he's the one at the site figuring shit out, sometimes the "boss" isn't always right and does stuff the hard way. The boss doesn't need to touch the panels, so why does he care?

You can do it his way which will be less efficient because it's not what "everyone is used to" or you can do it the way everyone is used to and have it be more efficient. Unless everyone is just trying to take up as much time as they can.

Also, talk your customer our of million wraps.... I hate them, they only ever look good straight on, the second you move an inch all alignment looks off. Better to design around them than to wrap them!
