laminators!!

I have a royal sovereign laminator. I have some hard times with it. Nothing is "wrong" with it. It's got a take up reel that doesn't always move..and I think it's because when the lamination gets so far over, it drags. I need some help. Anybody have a laminator that's a great one?

I do have a GFP laminator and i've turned it into a sign applicator...which is great...but if I were to use it again as a laminator, it doesn't have a take up reel.

So, if anyone has any suggestions on good laminators that aren't necessarily full proof, but that seem to be more forgiving on rolls that aren't wound so great.

We got a 63" random Chinezium 2 Roller one that just says "Auto Laminator" on the side that has been pretty great compared to old RS ones ive used...its not as deep as the RS so it doesnt take up much room and has take up roller that works great for vinyl...we only use runout tables to mount styrene panels now, you can take the top rollers off, pull up some tables and almost use it like a stationary rolls roller table...
Got it with my VG2 still using it with my VG3...terrible Chinese instructions are useless but came with couple extra knobs and glass rods...only problem is the no name air compressor that came with mine to raise the roller blew a regulator after a 4-5 years and then the compressor died last year...attached new compressor still works fine...
Kinda annoys mine doesnt have the rear slitter cutters this one shows...our was more expensive than this one but it is also a warm/hot laminator even though I havent used that almost ever.

Mistrals are great.

We also run a royal sovereign... Definitely doesn't have perfect tracking.

Now the controversial part... We needed a laminator of a huge opening because we laminate 150 ft magnet rolls all of the time. Because of how heavy they are, and us doing 100 plus rolls a month... We decided to buy one from China in case it caused too much wear and tear. It is 10 times faster, more heavy duty.. and it tracks 100% perfect. It has a sensor on it that stops the laminated from going at the end of the roll, five or six sliters on the back to cut off any excess vinyl if you do load it wrong, all in normal stuff like fingerprint sensors, foot pedals, take up.... Did a lot of research and went with the reputable brand that a lot of American people seem to be using.

We paid roughly $4,000 all In to get it shipped to us... The equivalent laminator that would handle the rolls was in the 28,000 range... We've probably sent five or 600 rolls through it already and it still works as great as it did the first day.

Dmais is the brand...

It works better than our 1-year-old Royal sovereign that we paid $9k for 2 years ago - we plan on replacing it with a dmais when we replace it.

Is this the one you're talking about?

Dmais 1600d is the one we have.

It takes 1.5 mins to laminate a full 150 ft roll
Here's it laminating a 100 ft roll of magnet with EGP reflective in a minute , and autostopping when it finishes

Dmais has an Alibaba account, so you can buy direct - costs a bit more mid you don't want to handle clearing it yourself... But they do delivery to door with all duties and taxes paid.

[Edit] leafu is also a good brand, and they make flatbed tables as well, if you end up looking into them.

Honestly the best part about them is the air shaft and swing out arms.... It makes loading rolls a breeze, and the air shaft holds them right so they don't skew.

How long ago did you purchase, I do not see that model anymore. Found 1700A and it is only $1500 plus $250 shipping plus duties.

I also just got a Chinese no name laminator. Thing is amazing and laminated perfect right out of the box. Impressed with the quality. At the rate they're getting better, maybe we'll have some meaningful competitors to latex and solvent printers that people can feel comfortable with. No reason those things cost what they do.

A year ago? Message them on Alibaba. You tell them what they're after and they'll recommend a model... Can list all the features you want and everything.

Call your local GFP dealer and see if they sell a take up reel for your model of laminator, or just buy a new GFP.
I like them a lot, we have 3 of them here with extremely high miles.
