Hi, i currenlty own an Epson s40600 (just out of warranty), recently i started noticing ink accumulation on the media holders,
this morning when i did a manual cleaning, i noticed the print head dripping a small amount of black ink where the arrows are.
after cleaning it, it again started dripping.
any ideas?

thanks

Check first for air in the lines, dampers, o-rings and cartdridge rubber. Leaking means that air enters in any place. If ink doesnt return to the cartdridges while dripping on the printhead, check the rubber that connects the damper to the printhead. If still leaking, inside the printhead there is another rubber that usually shrinks with 4-5 years of use, and there is no replace (up to my knowledge). Sometimes the printhead manifold pins get a little broken too. But first check if the ink returns or not to the cartdridges

Still looking for any update
Here is a picture from my printer
Did you get this solved? I went into my shop yesterday and the cyan is just bubbling through the print head. I removed the plate to get to the dampers and got ink everywhere. Put it back together and ordered cleaning solution to clean out the lines until I know what to do.

I desperately need help! I have the exact same problem as the gentleman above. Cyan just started dripping right through the head. I read it could be a damper and have one on order but I can't find how to change one anywhere. I called epson and the closest repair person told me that was too far for them. Epson also told me they have a option of me paying $3200 and they will come service it. If its a $50 part i dont want to lose 3200 but my God can they make it any harder. I downloaded the service manual and it doesn't even have the word damper in it. I am about to lose everything. Please anything you can do to get me back up. I need to know how to change a damper without inlk getting everywhere.

Man who touches printers inappropriately.
If you have leaky dampers, you'll likely have a slightly faster leak if you clean out gummed up lines. Probably best to just do the whole assembly, unless you want to make a huge mess to save a couple hundo. Pretty straightforward, but I recommend trying to get ahold of a proper service manual for proper step by step guidance.

Think in the system as a syringe. When the printhead prints is like pressing the syringe. If u have an entry of air in any point, the ink con the tubes will return to the cartdridge and the ink on the head will just fall to the media or the capping station. The damper is just a filter and antireverse valve. If the ink falls from the printhead and doesnt return to the cartdridge then your cartdridge, tubing and dampers are ok and is a printhead issue, usually a rubber or a broken captop, where you pinch the dampers. That captop has a filter too. If you are using non-original inks, it can break. The same with the printhead rubber that adapts the printhead to the captop. But since that is only a color failing, i bet is not the rubber, and is just that you have air on the tubings, a broken cartdridge rubber (just try other cartdridge) or a damper failing (valve not working or one of the two rubbers became hard).
