Light Magenta Missing / Head Issue? – Roland Printer

Hello everyone,
I’m having a serious problem with my Roland printer and would appreciate your advice.
  • The Light Magenta channel completely disappears.
  • When I do a CL Shock / Powerful Cleaning, it sometimes comes back but only partially, and then other colors start to break up as well.
  • After several cleanings or after printing a lot, Light Magenta disappears again.
Parts I already replaced:
During manual head cleaning, I noticed something strange: the cleaning liquid doesn’t come out from the nozzles, but instead leaks inside the head through the other color channels!

Additional info:
  • I also replaced the head cables.
  • My current ink setup is: CMYK + Lc + Lm + Cl + W.
  • For almost a year, I replaced the White cartridge with a cleaning solution cartridge. After that, I switched back to Light Magenta but used a White chip so the printer detects it as White.
My questions:
  1. Do you think the head is damaged and needs replacement?
  2. Is there any other solution I should try first?
  3. Should I change my ink configuration to CMYK + CMYK?
  4. Or should I just replace the whole head?
Any advice or similar experience would be really helpful

You have more issues then just the light magenta. What model are you using? Looks like you've had some head strikes. You've already replaced all the parts I would have suggested, so the next step would be to replace the head (based on the test print, it looks like a 1 head model).

If the cleaning fluid is leaking into the other heads you either have a bad head or manifold. Try the manifold first but if that doesnt fix it then change the head. It looks like it is due anyway

Thanks to response.
The printer is a ROLAND VS-640i.
Color system: CMYKLMLCLKWhite
It’s a one-head model.
the missing channel is LM
I already replaced white to magenta to save on cartridge cost.

understood, but you have other channels with damage. As Damon mentioned, you could try to replace the manifold, but with the other damage, I would recommend just changing the head, as the manifold won't fix the other issues.
