Looking for a Roland Tech for BN20 won't connect

Today my Roland bn20 won't connect. Using versaworks. I suspect the firmware may need updating but when I try I get an error message machine not found

what version of firmware do you have in the printer and what version of Versa works are you using?
keep in mind this is a USB device so you should be hear the ‘ding’ connection in the USB on your computer when you plug it in. Also, you can go to the device manager and see if the computer is seeing it.
