Looking for the tool to drup ink caps for Roland SP-540v

Hi All, I recently bought an old SP-540V as my first solvent printer and it's missing the tool that comes with the printer when new. It lets one drop the caps down. I want to do a head soak but can't without this thing!

Does anyone happen to know where I can get one or have one they would sell at a reasonable price?

I've made one out of a piece of about 1/4" diameter metal tube and just squish one end with a pair of pliers so there is a flat spot. There isn't anything special about it at the end of the day. In a pinch I have even used forceps to grab on to the rod and spin it that way.

The part you are looking for is # 22155133 and you can get it for $6.00 at the Roland Store: https://dgastore.rolanddga.com/product/pipe-tool-fj-540 or just Google the part number. Don't worry about the websites that say it is an extension for allen wrenches or only for the FJ-540. We have had 6 Roland printers and this is the tool for all of them.

This is the same one for the SP.
It is literally just a piece of pipe with one end squashed down though, you could make one yourself for a couple of dollars. I made one from a piece of plastic pipe and melted the end down a bit

Have you moved or unplugged any of the cables to the servo board? It can be something as simple as that. If not I have used working servo boards in stock

The engineer said the printer isn't worth salvaging as it needs print heads too.
The seller wasnt honest with me & it was sitting up along longer than he said
Im not sure how to troubleshoot the boards.
Could you possibly give me instructions on it, if you have time.?

There isn't really a way to troubleshoot the boards easily, they need to be properly tested by someone who knows how to test and diagnose circuits. You can look for basic things like any components that look obviously burned or damaged, and also unplug the cables from the board and check the pins are all straight and none are bent or damaged.
Normally if a servo board isn't working they aren't repairable and need to be replaced

I got it with a Xlam 1600 laminator for a very good price
Im starting up gain in business after having to close my former one some years ago.
This was the Roland I used back then, so got it to get me up & running, thought i would have got 6 months out of it , to get some jobs in
Have secured a deal with an Irish company today for a Roland Soljet HR-640.
3 months warranty.
Great machine.
