I been buying the generic import bobbins off Amazon. They seem not to last but a couple months. Not sure if I can just change out the brake spring or not. Any suggestions for better ones?

Talking about the little gasket in the back of the case, backlash spring I think it's called? I take those things out before I even start using it.

Both. I do use magnetic wall-less ones, as well as the traditional ones that I spin myself if I have to match upper/lower thread (especially during this time of year when I do freestanding ornaments and coasters for people).
