i'm hoping someone can help me out. These marks come up randomly I printed about 20ft this morning with no issues, then all of a sudden, they were in the middle of a 10ft run please ignore the swab I was checking to see if it had come from the pinch rollers, but they were clean
ok what is the easiest way to diagnose the cause? I use the recommended temps from the media manufacturer. Could it be the head itself? The reason I ask is I watched the carriage the other day slide the right-hand media guide back when the carriage went to far right while printing
Yep, thats a head strike. Usually bad vacuum settings, too much hea (try with 0 or 30C), bad setup on the automatic enroll, bad media alignment or bad media bar bearings.
Don’t overthink this. Head strikes are the most common problem we face. If one of the metal side guides walks off as you print, it means the media is not feeding straight. Lift the pinch rollers, pull some more through and try again.
As to temps: what profile are you using and what are the temps? Many of the old Mutoh Flexi profiles had temp settings way too high.
