Well, he passed away a few years ago, but other than that, he turned to blues music and had a few solo albums. He was only worth about 2 million at the time of his death. Had 3 sons and an ex-wife. He played guitar in the Jackson 5 and was an original member till the end. Almost everyone, including Tito, was estranged from MJ for years before his passing. MJ's team essentially brainwashed him into thinking the only reason his family wanted to talk to him was for money and fame. When Apple phones came out MJ sent one to each of his family members for Christmas. Tito sent it back with a note stating he wasn't after MJ's money or gifts, he just wanted a relationship with him. MJ's did not call him because his team turned that gesture into bad intentions.
Near the end, Jermaine, Tito and the father tried getting access to MJ. They knew he was being over medicated and Jermaine and the father especially tried in vain to get the doctors fired and get some honest ones, to no avail. The father showed up with a baseball bat, no one was allowed access.
One time Steven Segal called MJ a pedo. Jermaine was furious and he called Tito and Marlon and said, "I'm going to Stevens movie opening and give him a piece of my mind" Tito and Marlon decided they needed to back up Jermaine and went along. When Tito was asked what the brothers would do if Steven started swinging, he said he had thought about that and that's why he had to back up Jermaine and that he would figure something when he got there.
When the movie first came out, I thought Jermaine and the family were just trying to cash out on MJ. However, after listening and reading many articles, interviews with people close to MJ, etc. I came to realization that his brothers, especially Jermaine, really loved him and wanted the best for him. After the Victory Tour, all the brothers had enough of the Jackson 5. They had been performing since childhood and they just had enough. Perhaps for some years after the VT they may have had money on their minds, time passed and they really just wanted a relationship with him especially after the allegations and the downturn in his health. Jermaine, Tito and Marlon were very strong advocators for MJ until the end.
MJ died cash poor. He had zero cash, only assets. When he passed away, his legal team sold some music assets and built his fortune back up substantially. His mother received half the estate; his children split the remainder. Upon her death the money goes to his children. I do believe Jermaine's stake in the movie is more about keeping his brother's memory alive than cashing in, which I was very happy to hear. His son did an excellent job playing MJ.
Hope that answers your question LOL!
