Mimaki 3042FX - Ink expired

Hi, We have a Mimaki UJF-3042FX which we have had for nearly a year. The printer is not in constant use, and we only print small items, so we have a problem in that the ink expires before we have even used half a cartridge. This is costing us a fortune in wasted ink, which I'm sure could still be used.

Does anyone know a way that these expired cartridges could still be used? I presume the chip on the is telling the printer that the ink has expired - could this chip be overridden?

Thanks,
David

You can't override the chip readers and Mimaki won't send out new chips for expired inks. Your best bet is to find a 3rd party ink manufacturer who will sell you knock off chips without the ink. I'm not sure how well expired UV inks work so try at your own risk. I have seen people use solvent inks that were expired for over a year with no issues.
