I have a couple of questions for the mimaki experts

can a bad encoder strip screw up your prints?, can a bad cap cause the over spray, can a bad damper cause over spray

I have a perfect test print, crisp and no cross contamination

I'm having some banding and over spray just started about 5 days ago, I have a bunch of parts ordered included the encoder strip, some caps

the machine has light use and is a year old, I've not changed the caps, pump or any dampers since new

Damaged or dirty encoder strips can cause a stair step effect that sort of skews your image and also overspray. A bad cap top will cause nozzles to drop out and cause banding but it can also cause nozzles to partially clog which will also cause overspray. The cap top should be replaced once a year so you're probably due. Check your wiper as well to make sure that it's not warped or bloated so that it's making perfect contact with the whole head surface. If you haven't changed it within the year, you should probably change it too.

Well I figured it out again, its now printing perfectly

On my prior post I was having the Y over current error, the solution was to remove some tension off the small Y pulley
by loosening the Y motor tension, I decided to try the opposite, so I put more tension back on the Y motor, Im back to pretty much where I was before in terms of tension, now it prints perfect without the error, but I'm kinda baffled, is there a specific procedure to Y motor tension
