Mimaki UCJV300 Shaking During Printing + Excess Ink at Start . Need Advice

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my Mimaki UCJV300 and I’m hoping to get some advice from anyone who has experienced this before.
The printer is shaking/vibrating a lot while printing, even though the floor is perfectly level. At the start of each print, the carriage also releases too much ink, almost like an ink dump or splatter, before continuing normally.
Here’s what I’ve noticed so far:
  • Floor is even and machine is stable
  • Shaking only happens when the carriage starts printing
  • First few millimeters of the print show excess ink / splatter
  • After that, the print looks normal
Has anyone dealt with shaking or ink splatter on the UCJV300 before?
What ended up being the fix for you?
Any guidance or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! attached is the video for reference

Tighten your frame bolts, seems they were either loosely installed, or have shaken loose over the years. A common issue with some frame designs. Also, you're in the classified section.

-you could try lubing the rail with some light grease. Just put some grease on a swab and apply it sparingly in a few spots on the rail and then move the head back and forth the length of the rail a few times. It should feel smooth not gritty at all
-we had a similar issue once and it ended up being a main board replacement issue. And of course it happened one week after the warranty was up…
-could be the scan motor as well. Have you preformed the aging test? I think that’s what it’s called
