The numerals and some of the letters look like a bastardized variant of Clarendon light...and hand-cut, at that. I think you'd be safe with that, since you're just cutting the date anyway.

It's definitely based on Cheltenham, with some details simplified for engraving (i.e. flattening the tops of the T and the 5). Note that there are two distinct sets of numerals (oldstyle vs ball terminal) available with different versions of Cheltenham.
