Mutoh 661 Cap Slider Assembly Replacement DIY

I'm looking to replace the OEM Cap Slider Assembly (Part# DH-40023 kit, which includes the cap slider assy and wiper assy) on my Mutoh XpertJet 661UF, and I'm having a hard time finding a clear step-by-step or video walkthrough for it.

The maintenance manual only shows a labeled photo on the periodic parts page, no real disassembly/reassembly procedure. Good ole google says this should be easy to do (4 out of 10 difficulty).

Has anyone here replaced the cap slider assembly on a 661UF (or 461UF, since they share this part) before? Specifically curious about:
- How the maintenance station comes out (screws, connectors, tubing to disconnect)
- Anything that needs realignment/calibration afterward
- Any gotchas or things you wish you'd known before starting

Any photos, tips, or a pointer to documentation would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!

Is your current station physically damaged or are you just having ink flow issues? If it's not damaged and it's an ink flow issues, usually just changing the cap top and flushing out the tubes does the trick. I hate how Mutoh recomends changing the whole thing when the cap top is the usual suspect.

I've never changed it on that particular model but there should just be a few screws holding it in place. I checked the manual and it looks like there is 1 screw on each end so two total holding it in. As long as you line those up on the new one and the screws fit without having to fudge around with it, no alignments are needed. One tip, I usually wet the new cap top with cleaning solution to help it seal properly the first time. Otherwise it might have a hard time sealing at first.

I have had the machine 2 years and am getting some haze around the prints. I have tried everything I can think of, this is last on my list.

If your white nozzle check is showing missing and crooked nozzles, a new cap top could fix the issue if the current one isn't pulling suction properly. I would make sure ink is flowing into the waste tank during cleanings. If not, either the cap top isn't sealing or the tube from the cap top, through the pump, and into the waste tank may be clogged. A new cap top, flushing the waste tubes, and a head soak should clear things up. At the end of the day, it could be a head issue. White clogs much easier than regular colors. The last resort if nothing else works is manually flushing the white channel and hope for the best but be prepared to need a new head.

Me too. I don't think it's automatically a head issue or anything, but it's always good to be somewhat prepared for that outcome.
