Will my machine automatically refill the dampers with ink when they become low, or do I have to do it myself with the setup on the printer

your dampers should always be about 1/2 full... the machine does this by gravity and suction from the capping station. if they aren't try running a few cleaning cycles...if not still then carefully pull the damper off and stick a syringe into it and pull some ink into it....

Normally when dampers go bad the are either always empty or completely full.
