Neck Ribbon for Award (Blow it up)

I don't know why I am having such a hard time with this design. Maybe just sitting to close to it. Customer wants the black white red color scheme. and also wants the text in that font/ layout. Just something in me says blow it up it's no good. Any ideas. Not sure how I can help this one.

You might try designing it vertically and see how you feel about it since that is how it will look when worn. I would consider placing the runners at an angle.

It will be a V-sewn neck ribbon. To clip onto a medal. I like the idea of designing it on the vertical. Lets go play.
