Need some Advice / Alternative to Acrylic

I am working on a dimensional sign, Alumalite is the substraight. I have always used Acrylic in the past, or Signfoam for 3-D, etc. I see that many people are using PVC, and many other materials. On this sign I am raising the Border, "Maine Optometry" and the "Eye". The rest will be vinyls. I am new to running my own CNC and really want to expand my knowledge. I am attending a sign camp in Indiana in June and holding a Camp Shopbot here at my shop in the summer.

Looking for an alternative on what to use for the raised copy instead of acrylic.
