Neutral cure silicone sealant

Hi Everyone,

We have a client who wants neutral cure silicone sealant to mount some pin-mounted acrylic signs outdoors. Our usual sealant is polythene based. Does anyone have any recommendations?

GE l silicone is acid cure and requires something like 12 hours before exposure to water.

GE ll silicone is neutral cure and can be exposed to water in half an hour....likely the reason you're client is asking for it.

One of the most common mistakes in illuminated signage is the use of acetic cure for sealing. The acetic curing mechanism releases a vapour of acetic acid (that's why it smells like vinegar) which can cause corrosion in electrical connections. Oxime and other neutral cure silicones are safe to use around electricals. Your client is right on the money.
