Oce' 250 GT for cut vinyl?

Hello folks,

I am wondering if anyone prints exclusively with their flatbed for all jobs, including cut vinyl. The limitation I see is only being able to do 4' x 8' sections at a time. I have heard you can roll feed this machine so I am curious as to if anyone has done this and if it's possible to have a take up reel installed.

Also looking for plotter and laminator recommendations. We use a Oce' 250 GT. I am new to flatbeds but not the industry.

Thanks a ton!

You have to buy/install a roll-to-roll module to do a roll feed. It worth the money as you can have job done overnight without supervision. With little creative you can also print bigger than 4'x8'.

I spoke with the Oce' Display Graphics Manager. He is confirming, but believes the add ons will work with our printer. Not sure since it was the first printer in this line. The thing is the price. After a 4K discount we would still pay $19K. We may be able to get a demo model for less though. Looking through ebay I can get a rolland 540 V used for around the 8K price point. I wonder if the extra money will make sense in the long run. The roll fed ad on keeps the gantry in one spot while printing so you can queue and set up the next job while it's in use and it can print 87" w compared to 54" with the Roland. Both bonus features although at this point we don't do that many jobs where that extra 33" is necessary.

Thoughts?

Like you said/know..this is a very early model of this line of printer which mean your printer is very old and discontinued.. For me I would not add this extra module as with this cost you can buy another used Oce 350 on the Ebay (google it)...
