Oil for Carriage Rod?

It's just machine oil. Use whatever you like.

Even the small hp bottle should last a lifetime if you are not overusing it. And you always get a new (2) one from Smk3 service.

We bought it used and didn't get anything like that.
I talked to the company that sold it to us, and they will send a service pack. :)

So a 3-in-1 oil will work for this then?

Also, related question: when swapping out the lubricating felts do they go in dry?

Felts are not presoaked. The left front is just the felt. On right side is a oil reservoir to constantly apply oil to the main rod. The rear rod needs to be oiled from time to time. The felts of the rear rod are not accessible easily when replacement is required. But during SMK3 all oiler felts will be replaced.

The felts are presoaked,(I did many SMK3) The reservoir on the right isn't. For the felts on the back, they even include gloves, so you don't get the oil on your hands.
