(OKC) Mimaki/Inkjet Field Service Tech Looking For Possible Work

sooo . . . in your guestimation . . . when a mainboard goes bad is it usually just a failure of a component on the mainboard or is there something on down the line that shorted it out? I know nothing lasts forever but is this kind of typical for a printer that is older?

Depends if there are signs of damage to wiring and the like. If there's a head crash or something, could be a crushed wiring harness shorting things out. Really depends on the model as well for board failures. Usually boards that are reliable will be for most people, and boards that fail a lot will be same fault on most.

I’m kinda guessing on my own that it is a component failure on the board since it started out intermittently dying and then getting worse to where it won’t even start now. . . . my first inclination was a power supply but since I’ve replaced that with no change and hearing your thoughts on the mainboards I’m guessing you are right. Oh joy!!!

Was the power supply putting out too much or too little voltage, or none at all? Surge damage might be a thing, but too many possibilities without proper troubleshooting.

In all honesty I never checked the output, I just assumed from the symptoms of running for a while and then barfing that the power supply was getting week. Shoulda put a meter on it. Sometimes you DO have to stick your head up the bulls ass to find out if the steaks are good or not . . . hahaha!!

Just bumping this guy, still looking for OKC area tech gigs, also willing to be trained on other machines as needed. Can fix most things with access to service programs/manuals as well. Still not working on HP however. =D
