Omega CP & CS Software

Can anyone tell me the difference between Omega CP and CS Software? I am thinking about buying a used Edge 2 and Envison. The previous owner used both softwares, but has lost the key for the CP software. I contacted Gerber and they said pretty much you are outta luck if you lose the key, and have to get new software.

From the Gerber website:

• OMEGA™ CP
  Includes all the tools you need to create and output cut vinyl and router jobs, plus has color assignment and output capabilities for all GERBER EDGE® series and GERBER MAXX™ 2 thermal transfer printers. Includes ARTPath software.
• OMEGA™ CS
  Includes all the tools you need to create and output cut vinyl and router jobs, however it cannot output to thermal transfer printers.

So if I understand you correctly, the CS software is more for the Envision? And to use the Edge 2, I would need the CP software?

Also, can any sign software be used with these Gerber devices?

CP is what will run it all. CS is missing all print features.

The Edge can be driven from SignLab with the Thermal Module and by FlexiSign Pro version 7.6 or later ... but Omega does it much better IMHO.

if you buy CS and an edge 2 w/envision, you'll have a nice design program and two expensive paperweights. CS can't run the printer/plotter... you need CP for that. C=cut, P=print.
