Just recently found this cool little online billing timer. I find it works great to let my clients see how they are actually getting billed when I do layouts with them. Its totally free and you can set your billing rate per hour. When the timer runs you see the total adding up real-time.

Great Motivator for clients that want you to make a tons of little tweaks or are just indecisive. I run it on a second monitor full screen so they see it the entire time. Its amazing how fast decisions get made when they see what its costing them to hem and haw about things.

Wow! I haven't thought of one of those in years. My old man used to sell the hell out of those on his used car lot. Couldn't keep those on the lot. They were as hot as the chevette and the pinto to teenage girls in high school getting their first car.

I like https://www.toggl.com/ though if all you're trying to do is scare clients I guess the OP link works better. I would find designing with that thing ticking and a client over my shoulder freaking out to be stressful and unproductive.

Mine is also 100% Free. You don't have to use it for every client, I don't. I just use it for those needing some motivation or those that are already arguing about price per hour. Its more a motivational tool then a billing tool.

When I am given free reign to do my own thing. I usually only bill for an hour or two. If I am going beyond that. I sub out the work as clearly I have hit a wall and it would be pointless to go on and I write off the time spent as practice for personal growth.

Perhaps a more unobtrusive subliminal approach would be to have a cash register ding sound every 90 seconds or so on low volume. Maybe shorten the delay as time went on. Just an idea.

Well its free for a reason its got google adwords running all over it. I don't expect something perfect for Free. Kinda you get way you pay for scenario at work here.
