Onyx Thrive v.25 not allowing CMYKlclm Configuration in Ink Setup and Output for HP 730W

Hopefully some Onyx guru can help me here. The printer is configured CMYKlclm (+W when needed), and the profiles in the printer are correctly set to this configuration, rechecked and redid all the calibrations for each mode. But somehow, Onyx doesn't seem to recognize this and doesn't allow to add the lclm in the ink setup and output in Job Editor. So, after some digging, I went to Media Manager to see if the mystery could be solved there (attached pics), but again it doesn't give this option (nor for the generic settings). So, maybe that's how it's supposed to be? Or not, and we're not getting the most accurate color out of the printer.

The use (or non-use) of the light inks is defined on the printer itself in the print mode; it is viewed on the front panel, under the Substrate Library > Media Category > Media Name > Print Mode parameters.

Current HP Latex printers are Contone devices that assume direct control over the ink splits (between C/lc and M/lm). The RIP has no direct access to or control over the ink split. The printer handles that internally.

It is possible to create a print mode that does not use light inks - CMYK only. Generics cannot be edited directly, but can be cloned and then edited. Again, that print mode would be done at the printer front panel, and subsequently synchronized to the RIP for use in production. In practice, there is no common use case for disabling the light inks.

Thanks P. Wagner and balstestrat, yes in the printer itself, I was able to see that the parameters do include the full set of inks. I did clone, edit, make custom icc profiles for each mode and then synchronize in the rip (after deleting anything that could confuse names, etc).

The omission of the light ink reduces the ink usage a little bit. We had a customer printing mainly on blueback in this way. Since the light inks need to be inserted, they just get overaged...

I always have the 570 create the profile and onyx pick up the profile from the printer. If I want to define the profile more and adjust color more specfically I re-run the profile in media manager. I do find the internal color calibration works pretty well and keeps a really good standard.
