opos eye replacement Summa D140SE

Ok, so I have the above machine. It appears that the spring that holds the opos "eye" broke at some point and the eye is damaged.
I have looked but cannot find parts. Any suggestions? And is this an easy fix? Machine runs flawless and hate to buy a new machine.
Thanks!

Do you have any pictures?

Most of these "eyes" are standard components rather than specific to the machine.

Usually the number of wires gives a clue. 4 = led and diode, 2 = diode, etc.

More the sensor itself - this is the complete issue - is it a red dot (laser) or invisible (or led)?

Looks like it might be a mechanical fault of the overall assembly.

Can you take it apart any more?

Dumb question: Are you sure there isn't lint or a piece of vinyl over the sensor hole? That happens to me more often than I'd like - and it always looks like the sensor has failed.
