I haveva customer that makes outdoor wooden swings. They want to place something approximately 1x6in with there company name and numbers on it. What suggestions do you have for this?

How about a lasered piece of wood to attach? Saw this recently on a project where the guy did an oval cutout in his work and then made a wooden "badge" oval insert that fit in it flush. Wouldn't necessarily have to do it as an insert, but either way it would be a nice upsell high-end kind of thing.

Have them router out a shallow 3mm 1x6in. oval or rectangle in the wood or composite material and adhere a 3mm ACM panel so it’s flush.

The best for durability would be a laser engraved stainless steel plate with the charcoal black spray like (cermark, etc), or a zinc or aluminum casting especially in the midwest or the plains. I mean if it is in Indiana by yourself. you are going to have basically the same weather as us, just not maybe as much cold/snow/freezing, but plenty of sun which will be hard on a lot of materials as well like even outdoor rated engraving plastics which will turn brittle over time. Years doen the road but over time. Another product we use a lot is Duraluxe Aluminum which is a full color sublimation material and is rated for 5 years, but our testing has lasted at least 7 years and no sign of fading yet. But that you more than likely don't have access to that process. Now if you were down by the ocean than brass would be better due to the salt.

Where can I get the Duraluxe Aluminum at supplies?
Hi Craig,

You have to order it through Decoral America USA(direct manufacturer) in Florida. The main headquarters is in Germany or something. I honestly forget. The problem is you have to buy a full 4'x8' sheet, but they will cut it down to smaller manageable pieces. We have them cut it down to (16) 12" x 24". I know you can still get the glossy version from Marco yet, some precut sizes and sheet stock. We stock the textured version and I do have some scraps of glossy, matte and glow in the dark. In my opinion the textured just seems more heavy duty. The glossy scratches easy. it is .050 thick. It comes white and you dye whatever color or photo you want. I was just talking to our rep Al at JDS a few moments ago on the phone as he called up to see how everything was going and he said they quit carrying it because they thought it was discontinued. We said no we got it from them direct they still make it. So Decoral might be just switching to selling direct now instead of via distributors. I know JDS did not sell a ton or it, but some. We sell it occasionally. I sold about 600 of little 1 1/2" x 3" that got screwed onto explosives crates from what I was told. The needed something that was obviously not going to ignite or spark from anything.

Do you have access to sublimation printer?, if so we can easily cut you some and send it your way. If not we could help you out as well if need be.

The other option would be Chromaluxe Outdoor which is pretty similar, Pretty much everyone sells it, and that is now rated for 5 years as well. We have not had a piece that has been out there long enough to know if it will last longer yet. They do make that as a glossy silver as well.
