PC-12 Up and Down Motor error

I'm getting a PC-12 back on line after having it down for about 5 months, and it gets about half way through the printing and says the job cannot be completed because of an "Up and Down Motor Error." The user's manual mentions the error, but it just says turn the printer off and then turn it on again--which "blows" the job, of course--and if it happens often call service.

Before I do that, it would help if I knew what the devil the Up and Down motor is! Anyone have any clues?
