peeling one layer of vinyl and leaving the underlayment

as stated, i have two pieces of vinyl on glass. shiny gold and a black right on top. i need to peel the black layer (its a circle.) and leave the gold on glass.
i am going to use a hair dryer to attempt to only surgically remove the black. the black is oracal 651. the gold is double sided oracal gold. i want to leave the gold. sigh.

i really could solve this problem with a flux capacitor, but alas, i can't predict a lightening strike.....

One of your keys to success will be to peel the black vinyl back on top of itself as flat as you can get. In other words, don't pull toward you or out at all. Pulling straight down will minimize the outward pull on the gold vinyl.

651 is CHEAP! The labor you have in messing around you could buy a 50 yard roll!!!!

Why is it 651? That stuff is for temporary signs?

Are you then going to put another color where the black was? If so, just put the new color on top of the black. Just a thought...

FYI- UPDATE- the 36" black circle was removed sucessfully. took a total of 22 minutes to peel it off the window. the double sided gold did not peel off. the hairdryer was lightly applied to help soften the removal process.

-it was used for indoor on glass. just a black circle.
if it was any other color, i would have grabbed a 951 series....

What's worth more, your time or gold vinyl? I would have just recut it. And I don't care what anyone says, 651 is great vinyl...
