phototex users....

just got in a sample roll of phototex and wanted to ask users a few questions.

were using a roland eco solvent machine so if your using phototex with this setup please let me know>>>

what profile are you getting the best results from?

do you have to leave a white edge/boarder around your prints to stop them curling or can you do a full bleed without any curling?

do you recommend laminating this stuff for interior use(i know its not for exterior use), or do you just leave it without lamination? i know if its going to be in a high traffic area and people would be touching it you would probably lam it, but just wanted to see if you all laminated it anyways regardless.

they say its removable without any damage to walls/paint, is this the case from what you all have seen so far?

Do not lam, it is removable, bleed not a problem. Not using your machine so can't help with profiles.

Don't know of an "official" profile for it, but the MCVP (Matte Calendered Vinyl) profile in VersaWorks is what I use. I haven't done a print/cut job with full bleed with it yet so I can't comment on whether or not it curls, but I have heard you should wait till it dries to cut.

thanks mike, we always wait for approx 24 hours to cut anything with a full bleed anyways, so thats cool. just wanted to see if anyone had any problems with it curling at all.....its not supposed to but....ya' never know!! lol....

lol. that's what the sample roll is for. messin' around with it.

i dont think you can lam it. it is textured.
i print and trim it full bleed no problem with curl.

I'm on a GS6000.
i just use a regular vinyl profile for oracal 3640G.
BUT I may move it up to the 3M IJ35C profile. The 3M profile is a bit richer in color.

again that is what the sample roll is for. Run a 12" strip with one profile, then another, then a third profile and chose which one you like best.

yep....get what the sample roll is for!....but i also don't want to waste to much of it as i want to give some clients afew printable samples as they are interested in seeing what its like, so if i can get a headsup as to what works and what doesn't all the better.

We've used one of the matte vinyl settings within versaworks and it's been fine. That's what they recommend too I believe. We print and cut right away full bleed with no issues. We've changed over to Seramark recently because it's whiter and not as see through.

We've been experimenting laminating it and it doesn't really turn out that great because of the texture. If people touch the fabric, it will get dirty but can take gentle cleaning.

I have used the canvas profile also with good results. No on the lam and haven't had any curl issues just make sure you or the customer clean the wall before application.
