Need Help Plastic Sheeting Vinyl Attachment

Graphic Extremes

Knows To Little
Acrylonitrile Butadience Styrene Sheets

I have a customer who had 300 4' by 8' sheet of this stuff delivered to my location to have printed vinyl placed on both sides of each sheet.

Doing a test on this material, wiped down with alcohol, applied a couple types of vinyl and they do not stick almost at all. Emailed customer and asked if I could sand one of the panels as a test to see what I could do as the vinyl appears to not want to stick. Got the go ahead and did a descent sanding to the surface, wiped with alcohol again and vinyl still appears to not stick very well..

Does anyone have any tricks or what type of vinyl will stick to this material..

Maybe a spray on glue that I can make these work.. I was informed customer can not return these.

You have to use the high tack vinyl that they use for dirt bikes and coolers. All major brands sell it. Sometimes flame treatment works to help with adhesiln,

Yes I agree, ABS is very hard to stick to. Contact Substance Vinyl, they specialize in vinyl for dirt bikes, snowmobiles etc. They should be able to help you pick something and send you samples.

Is flatbed printing not an option? The labour time alone in applying 600 sheets of vinyl would make up for the cost of outsourcing if you need to.

So I called Substance Vinyl and they are sending me two different samples. One of the sample they said not to use unless the first one does not stick, because of the cost and once applied you will never get this off with out damaging the surface that it is mounted to.

Once I receive the samples and try them I will post a follow up on what happened and what I actually had to use for this product I am trying to apply graphics to.

We stick to ABS just fine for a few customers, but the sheets we use are rough on one side and smooth on the other side. We stick to the smooth side with regular old 3M 220 and 180c.
For the rougher side you're going to want to use something like Arlon DPF8000 or Avery's high tack vinyl. FYI, the Arlon does shrink back.
