PLEASE HELP ME with Versaworks profiles

I have a SP 540-V and use versaworks...
I upgraded versaworks from 2.2.2 to 5.2 (yes I went to 3.0 1st) and now all of my profiles are gone except for some generic ones that I do not use...
I do not know how to import profiles but I am guessing I do it thru Media Explorer...???
I can see icc profiles in my Roland Versaworks folder but Versaworks only wants to let me inport rml files in the Media Explorer...

What am I doing wrong...???? PLEASE HELP ME as I need to be printing in the morning of course...

The problem here is that I do not understand profiles and their file types...
I do not understand .icc vs .rml etc...

I can see .icc profiles in the folder "Roland versaworks" in my "programs" folder...

I do not know how to get the profiles into versaworks...is it by using "Media Explorer" in VW...???

If so...when I try to import them it will only allow .rml file types...???

Why is that and why are my profiles all .icc and not .rml...???

My problem is not that I don't have profiles but rather that I do not know what I am doing and I need help understanding what I am supposed to do...
This is the reason I was running version 2.2.2...I have been printing with this printer for ten years and never updated because I don't know what I am doing so I just kept on printing every day for fear...
It just became obvious that I HAD to update finally...

RML (Roland Media Library) is a self-contained file that contains everything that the Versaworks RIP needs to print on the media that the profile was built for. This includes information like Ink Limiting, Linearization data, and the ICC profile itself. It installs into VW through the Media Explorer > Install New Media icon.

When you install media profiles into Versaworks, you need the RML file, and this is what is typically published by media manufacturers on their web sites. The ICC file without the rest of the information is essentially worthless in a RIP-based workflow, as the ICC rests on a foundation of the other data I mentioned (Ink limits, linearization, total ink limits).

That depends WHICH TYPE of Roland profile you're trying to install.

Example:

Canned Roland profile: Generic vinyl 1, Generic Banner 1, etc etc

3rd party profile: 3M IJ180cv3; Orafol 3651 etc etc.

You can download both then you will install from the location you choose.

And like MachServer said don't worry about anything with an .icc file extension the only thing you're looking for are the .rml files.

If you can explain which profiles (specifically) you're looking for and which inkset and configuration you're using I'll see if I can find them for you.

I am not sure what you mean by "inkset" and "configuration" but I use ecosol max ink...
What I have been using most every day over the years for reg vinyl and banners are...
LBV : Light Weight Banner Vinyl (ESM) and GCVP : Glossy Calendered Vinyl (ESM)
And a couple others for premium cast vinyl and matt paper etc...

My VW program updated to 5.2.2 is working fine...
(other than not having the needed profiles)
I am printing as we speak using Generic Vinyl 1 profile...

I installed DGA Versaworks Media Profiles for SP-540v and SP-300v from Rolands website...

I tried to install... "SP540EcoM_ESM-GCVP.rml" and it says that I can't because the ink is setting is different...????

This is exactly why I have never updated, because it always causes a nightmare!

Ink Set is basically the configuration of inks that you have installed in your printer. For instance, my VS-540 ink set is CMYKLcLmMtW.... Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Light Cyan, Light Magenta, Metallic, White. Profiles are made for that specific inkset, so if you try to use a profile made for my configuration for instance, and you don't have metallic or white, it just won't work. What is your ink set?

Well...I have a Roland SP-540v and the most I know about my ink type is that it is CMYK EcoSol Max....????
That is what I think I downloaded from that link Roland had me go to...

Within that extracted file there is a folder for the SP-540V and that is what I tries importing...
