Preferances Problem

I have the latest version with the most current updates and am having a problem with retaining some preferences. (7.6.2 SP2, build 0854) Whenever I open a file and draw a rectangle, the rectangle defaults to rounded corners and has a stroke applied. I try resetting these and exiting the program and when I open it again I'm back to rounded with a stroke applied. Please help me.

I've never worried about setting preferences in Flexi, it forces me to always think about what I am doing and pay attention to detail.
