Print and plot from Versaworks

Hi guys, has anyone had problems before with sending a print and plot job from Versaworks? I have a file that I sent to our Soljet Pro4 XR-640 but it didn't cut out one particular shape, yet when I sent the same job from Flexi Production Manager 12 it worked fine. The file is an eps and all the cut paths are built the same way using the Roland cut contour. Although I don't print and plot much on the Roland I have never had a problem before and never seen something like this.

Wen I look at the preview in Versaworks it doesn't show that path oddly enough but it's there on the Illustrator file and Flexi reads it too.

Thanks for any help, Steve

Make sure the artwork is rasterized/flattened and is in CMYK. Then make sure those cut paths are spot color and named appropriately. Versaworks is dumb like that. Can't have competing RGB/CMYK elements in the artwork and visual styles like drop shadows, excessive masks, glow, etc will break the readability of any cut paths in VW.

Yup here's the file, it's pretty simple:

Steve,
make sure you have an eps margin set to something higher than 0. it's located in settings->queue a settings->file format. set it to something like 0.1 inches, and add the file again.
sometimes the bounding box of an EPS overlaps the cut lines and cancels them out, this adds a buffer to prevent that.

when I go to file format margin nothing is adjustable on that page VW 5.3? I do have problems with boundery box occasionally.

I have had this problem in the past too. Couldn't get an object in an object to cut.

You didn't say what didn't cut, but is the object you are having problems with the small inner circle? If that is what is not cutting out, it is because it is a compound path and versaworks is not seeing an outline to cut but a whole object.

To do a quick test, I created a simple file and made a couple of rectangles and copied the small circle from your attached file. I pulled into versworks, I was only be able to cut the rectangles not the circle as it is a compound path and not a stroked object.

To fix this, I would go into my design, release the compound path, add a stroke and the no fill. This will cut from versaworks.

I had a similar problem and it drove me nuts till I realized what I had done. I don't have flexi so I had to figure it out so I could cut.

Hope this helps.
