Print roll smaller than laminate

Hi everyone. Refreshing myself to laminate (cold) a printed roll 54" x 300' (printed size is 50"x 124") to a lamination roll that is 63" wide. This is the only role that I have in the shop. How do I laminate the printed sheet to the oversize lamination roll without it sticking?
Thank you and God bless,
Craig

Measure out enough for the job length wise (leaving enough for set up) and manually cut down the width to 53”. Re roll on a core and set up laminator as usual.

I've taken release liner (coated one side) and wrapped it around the bottom roller and taped it together from the inside. It can be tricky but if you can find a tape strong enough to keep the wrap around the roller.

You could also try to rig up a knife to cut off one side of the laminate as it comes off the roll. If you were to get an expandable shower curtain rod and find a way to get a blade attached to cut the extra laminate as it unwinds....then just have the cut extra unnecessary laminate go to the takeup shaft.

I regularly cut down perf and vinyl rolls on my chop saw. I tape where I will be cutting and use a smooth steady stroke with blade. To get you used to it start by cutting a small amount of roll then once you get the hang of it make your final cut.

You can feed a roll of kraft paper under the vinyl so the excess laminate sticks to it. If it is a short run you can have a person on each side of the laminator and hold the laminate & vinyl up as it exits the rollers and the lam won't stick to the roller.
