Printing on plastic tags?

A guy at the local flee market does such a thing and was just curious how this is done. I believe it gets printed onto a transfer, then placed on the tag, then some sort of heat press to transfer the ink to the tag. I may be wrong though.

What I do is use FRP and sublimate it on there. It's pretty much the process that you are talking about except you have to use sublimation ink and sublimation transfer paper.
