Printing with 50% Opacity

How can you print with 50% opacity in such a way that the media on which you are printing is also partially visible.

Like in this decal, the holographic effect is visible even after printing the design on it. So we are trying to print some color graphics on a holographic film but want even the holographic effect to be visible.

How do we achieve this with a eco solvent or a latex printer?

ps : we partially removed the printed stuff using alcohol to show the holographic film beneath.

I did some prints on an engine turn substrate when I ran a UV printer. The design looked really cool with the engine turn being coloured by the print. We did have to experiment a little to achieve the correct ink level. We had the client approve our small sample before we went to full production.

With solvent and Latex inksets, the CMY inks are naturally very translucent, so they tend to respect the media surface. Black ink and some white inks (latex) are more opaque and tend to block reflective media surfaces. UV inks (all colors) are much thicker physically, and tend to sacrifice the media surface characteristics more than the other inks.
