Problem importing vector eps's with gradients into Flexi 8.6

I design everything in Illustrator, then import it into Flexi to apply the countour cut and send it off to the printer/plotter. But whenever I try to import files that have gradients anywhere int he art, it doesn't work at all. Like, if I have a box that has a green-to-blue gradient, and then have a black box behind it, when I import the eps into Flexi, all that's there is the black box. The gradient object isn't even there. Now, if I change that gradient object to a solid color, it works perfectly fine. Yes, I know, I could just do the gradients in Flexi, but that's an extra step it seems like i shouldn't have to take.

I ran a search to see if this topic has been discussed before, and didn't find anything. I'm sure it's probably just a checkbox or a setting I'm missing, but I'm at a loss. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Build your cutlines with illustrator and send the files directly to production manager from illustrator. Search setting up cut files in illustrator. Importing gradients to flexi from illustrator is an exercise in torture.

yep, that's exactly what i do. I go object, path, offset path and specify the size of the contour line.

you have to make a swatch, spot color and name it exactly CutContour then set it as stroke to 0.25pt

create your registration marks.

then put the contour line on a new layer and send to printer.

i do have problems with gradients in illustrator though. i have to actually make a gradient in photoshop and make a clipping mask in illustrator, else i get weird results.
