PVC Sealer?

I am looking for a sealent for a PVC momument that I am looking to construct, what does everyone use? For small signs I normally just use primer and paint and haven't had an issue, but I have been told told that for a monument that it needs to be sealed with some type of liquid, because the PVC is pores. Any help would be great!
