Need Help re: Matte Spot finish (can I use frog skin)

I used spot matte foil from Gerber and now they discontinued it. A client came back that I used spot matte for.

Wondering if anyone used frogskin as spot over gloss surfaces to get that same affect.

Yes and no...

Eye of the beholder. Print Frogskin/AbrasionGuard/Topcoat all kind of do both if you can market it properly. If you print it onto a matte vinyl, it is gloss by contrast. If you print it onto a gloss vinyl, it is matte by contrast. Confusing but it works in most circumstances.
