Reading Lot Numbers?

I ordered a roll of static cling and have been reading that cling has a short shelf life. So, I wanted to see what the lot date might be but I'm not sure if I'm deciphering it correctly. The lot number is 000431282-912. Am I guessing right that this roll was manufactured in September of 2012 (912)? Should I send it back if it's this old? Thanks in advance and happy thanksgiving!

I wanted to know this about Orical vinyl because I was ordering a roll that has a shelf life of only 12 months. Orical told me the date but the guy had to punch the code into his computer to get the date. This of course does not tell me how long it hung around the factory warehouse...
