Reflective vinyl on a boat

One of our local fire departments just purchased a boat and is requesting us to put reflective lettering on the sides, towards the upper portion. Will this last in the water? It is a rescue boat so hopefully it won't be used much. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

It'll be just fine. I've done a decent amount of fire boats. Use 3M 280 series vinyls though.
I remember doing one once when the water was WAY up and they couldn't take the boat out of the water... hanging over the sides of the boat out in the river squeegeeing vinyl SUCKED!
