Question Ribbon type that can be overlaid with vinyl

Hi, I'm trying to put vinyl on a ribbon. The vinyl is not sticking to the ribbon we were handed, which has a kind of plasticky look but it's some kind of fabric.
I'm going to try with a polyester ribbon sample I bought next, but in the meantime, what may have worked for you?
Changing the vinyl type would not be an option now that I have cut, weeded and taped a whole bunch of strips.

Alternatively, anyone here that offers printing on ribbon (continuous 48"x 1.5" with 12" gaps)?

Let me say what you don't want to hear first: you should have matched the vinyl to the ribbon material. Running a test when working with new material should always come before running the whole job.

Next, you haven't said what vinyl you are currently using. That might be useful in trying to help you.

One tip that might be helpful, awning guys often use heat to get vinyl to stick better to fabric. You might try an iron (a clothes iron might work for this job) or a heat gun. Hope this solves the issue for you.

Thank you. I did think about heat, but was trying to avoid that, because of time and what may happen with the transfer tape.
You’re right about testing the vinyl. I did a test but with another one and no transfer tape. Happened that the original one was being a bugger to weed… so I switched

What kind of ribbon? If it's like a satin sash then you should be using HTV with a heat press or screen print transfers - not vinyl. Do you have a sample you can show us? Have you tried a heat gun yet?
