Roland 640

I have a Roland 640ft and I started having blurry prints. The cyan and black nozzles were off so I tried replacing the dampers and printheads for those colors. When I did a test print afterwards, only one side of the cyan and black nozzles were there. I've done cleanings and syringed the ink through and now every color is gone except magenta. Ink is coming through when I syringe all the lines so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong?

hi
if all the colours are present after pulling them into the dampeners, and test print is ok
if after printing a short while you are getting full dropout,i would be looking at the head caps as
it is very easy to crack the nipple whilst removing & replacing the dampeners
if they have any movement, you have cracked them and need to be replaced.

one you have got everything back up and running don't forget to run the bi directional test print,
adjust values as required

good luck

The test prints haven't been okay they don't show ink except the magenta even after pulling

the ribbons wont be the problem, but if you must clean them just use a pencil eraser on the contacts,
do not let any flush contact them or get into the head , very bad ...

when you pull the ink up to the dampener and its filled ok, are the ink lines staying full or are you getting air pockets in the line?

also when you put the new heads is did you enter the new head codes into the printer?

also have you tried auto fill, as if you are commissioning all the heads for the 1st time

I had this issue after replacing a head and dampers. It took me performing 10-15 powerful cleanings to pull and fill the dampers and purge all of the air.

I haven't entered the new codes yet. I replaced the black and the cyan.
No air pockets when I syringe

I haven't done an auto fill. How do I do that?

hi the command is normally in the system menu or sub menu, depending on what firmware you are on
if you have the operators book have a look in the appendix
if not you can download one from the Roland website
or search for the 1: Setup Guide for your printer or 2: Assembly and Ink Filling

Thanks! Hopefully entering the code in and that fixes the issue
